ABOUT DAISY NGUYEN, CEO RENT SODA:

I have been in the apartment industry for ten years now, and like many people coming into Property Management, I was the Accidental Tourist who wandered into Property Management.

It’s been a roller coaster ride. I started at Dominium Management Services as the Director of Accounting & Training. I learned about Property Management through the financial process. In reviewing financials with the regionals, I heard wonderful (and HORRIFYING) stories of the property management world. Over the course of time, I was given the opportunity of establishing “Dominium University.” The constant traffic and stories of the community managers, leasing agents, compliance managers, maintenance personnel through DU was like hearing about a foreign land. I was after all, an accountant.

AND then there was the MHA MADACS gala. I was like Cinderella watching as everyone else celebrated their triumphs. It was an honor just to be nominated, but ALAS…there are no nominations or awards for “Most Accurate Financial Statement.” I watched the magic at the MADACS awards gala, and I was hooked. I wanted my own MADACS award – and I wanted one with all my heart.

Being a social creature by nature, accounting forever was not in the cards for me. Needing to expand my experience outside of Accounting, I left the industry and Accounting all together. 18 months later, I recieved a call from Greco, and I rejoined the Property Management & Real Estate Development Industry that I loved, as COO of Greco Properties.

18 months from my GRECO call, on I walked down the MADACS gala aisle with my team and accepted 5 MADACS awards, including Best Overall Marketing Campaign, Best Website, Best Social Media Marketing, Best New Development and Best Floorplan. The little accountant in me was beaming the entire night.

I’ve launched RENT SODA, my own consulting firm, out of my love for this wonderful industry, my truly social nature, and my deep desire to want to help others achieve excellence. RENT SODA offers apartment marketing, apartment training, business & operations consulting to the multi-family residential (apartment) industry.

PS. I chose a candid picture of me & my daughter, rather than a professional portrait of me. My thinking behind this revolves around the fact that this is a real industry, with real everyday people, like me. Property Management and Real Estate Development is serious business. At the same time, it’s also fun. I plan to shake it up and have fun all the way. This picture is of the real me. When I’m not working, I’m goofing around with my daughter, Tumi and embracing my inner nerd.
